The holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi will be celebrated across the country on Tuesday amid religious festivity, marking the anniversary of the emergence of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
President Md Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina issued separate statements marking the occasion.
Besides, opposition leader in parliament Begum Raushan Ershad and BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia in separate messages also greeted the countrymen on the occasion.
The day is a national holiday in Bangladesh.
President Hamid will host a milad mahfil at the Bangabhaban to be joined by government leaders, religious scholars and distinguished citizens in the afternoon.
Religious Affairs Minister Principal Matiur Rahman has inaugurated a 15-day program today coinciding with the Eid-e-Miladunnabi at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque under the auspices of Islamic Foundation.
The programs include delivery of religious sermons, seminars, exhibition of Islamic calligraphy and posters based on life of the Prophet,book fair, Islamic cultural competition and recitation of poetries on him.
