Japan revels in its culture

The Japanese brag its ‘deep-rooted’ culture and tradition that they still find in everything from preparing foods to making cars, and do not fear to lose it as generation changes.

“When Western style means luxuries and conquest, we believe in simplicity, natural things and harmony. Our aesthetics lie in subtraction,” an official of Japan’s historical sites promotion council says.
Takeo Matsueda, Deputy Secretary General of Rekishi Kaido (historical highway) Promotional Council, said as Japan stressed on efficiency and economy with their innovations and technologies, foreign countries used to value Japan as ‘faceless economic power’.

“But the Japanese view of beauty is also alive in the advanced manufacturing of Japan,” he told a group of journalists visiting historical sites in Kyoto, the former capital of Japan, on Saturday.
