More than 19 lakh students are going to appear in this year’s Junior School Certificate (JSC) and Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) examinations scheduled to begin on November 4, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said yesterday.
Of them, 15,53,575 are from schools and 3,54,790 from madrasas. Having completed class-VIII, they will take the exams at 2,250 centres across the country under eight general education boards and one madrasa board, he told reporters at his ministry’s conference room at the secretariat.
A total of 388 students will take the examinations from seven overseas centres.
Statistics show that more than two lakh school children from 16,20,054, who passed the first primary terminal examinations in 2009, will not sit for the JSC exams this year.
