Five people including a female college student were killed in a head-on collision between a truck and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in the district`s Fatehpur of Laksam upazila on Tuesday morning.
The deceased were identified as the auto-rickshaw driver Jasim Uddin, 30, of Razapur village under Monohorganj upazila, Nasrin, 24, daughter of one Akkas Ali, Mohsena Akter, wife of one Zahir Uddin, Rozina Akter, 20, a second year of N.F Government College and Abul Kalam, 25, of Fatehpur village under Laksam upazila.
Police said a Noakhali-bound truck hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction around 7:30am, leaving three people dead on the spot and two injured critically.Later, the injured were rushed to Laksam upazila health complex where they succumbed to their injuries, police added.
Lalmai Highway Police Station Officer in Charge (OC) Abu Taher confirmed the incident.
