Heavy traffic congestion has been seen on the Dhaka-Tangail Highway on Wednesday.
Movement of vehicles has been greatly slowed down on the 70-kilometre stretch of the highway from the east of the Bangabandhu Bridge to Gazipur’s Chandra since Tuesday night.
Many vehicles were taking the highway instead of Paturia since closing down three piers at Paturia and the increased number of trucks carrying cattle for Eid have caused heavy traffic.
Traffic and Highway Police are trying to bring the situation under control.
