After serving three years of ban Mohammad Ashraful is again eligible to participate in competitive domestic cricket. But still clouds of doubts remained over the career of Ashraful.

Bangladesh Cricket League is the first class franchise based competition where players who do well in the National Cricket League (NCL) and have future in the test matches get the opportunity to play.

But in that regards Mohammad Ashraful has lagged behind as he hasn’t participated in NCL nor he has any scope to play test matches for Bangladesh in near future.

After a committee meeting, BCB Cricket Operations Chairman Akram Khan stated that Ashraful’s fate to play in BCL lies in the hands of franchisers.

“He [Ashraful] hasn’t played in the National Cricket League; so still can’t be considered to play in the BCL. His participation in the BCL is completely depending upon the inclination of franchises and selectors.”

Even BCB Chief Selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu sees no hopes for Mohammad Ashraful. “In BCL we go select those who have better chances to play international cricket in the future; in that regards Ashraful still cannot participate in the international cricket till 2018,” Nannu pointed out.

And according to a source from BCB Bangladesh National Team head coach Chandika Hathurusingha also standing against Ahsraful’s participation in BCL.

He thinks it’s aberrant to take players in BCL who don’t have any future in the International arena; rather they should give opportunities to them who badly need it.

So, the question that remains unanswered is, ‘has the career of Ashraful is in the verge of ending?’ He fought hard, he waited a long; but coming back after three years, he finds no one standing for him.
