Bangladesh has expressed gratitude to King of Saudi Arabia Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for his “generous” gesture of lifting its ban on recruitment of Bangladeshi workers. “The people and the government of Bangladesh expressed their deep gratitude to King Salman for this generous gesture towards Bangladesh and for his continued support to the country,” said a press statement issued in Dhaka on Thursday.

The statement came following withdrawal of ban on the recruitment of Bangladeshi workers on Wednesday by the Labour and Social Development Ministry of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The ban had been in force for the past 7 years except for domestic service workers, the statement added. -bz
