Bangladesh defeated Zimbabwe by four wickets in the first Twenty20 international on Friday, taking 1-0 lead in the four-match series. Zimbabwe was restricted to 163 for 7 at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna.
Opener Hamilton Masakadza hit 79 off 53 balls. Chasing 164, Sabbir made highest 46 and Tamim Iqbal’s 29 helped the hosts build after the early dismissal of Soumya Sarkar. Mushy’s 26 from 19 balls contained three boundaries brought down the required run-rate to a manageable level.
Shakib remains unbeaten on 20 from 13. He struck two boundaries in the last over to bring victory within Bangladesh’s grasp.
