The cabinet has approved the draft of Hajj Package 2016.The approval came at its regular meeting on Monday afternoon chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
After the meeting, Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam briefed the reporters.
“This year government’s Hajj package will cost Tk360,000, including qurbani,” he said.
The second package excluding qurbani will cost Tk304,000, he added.
The cabinet also decided that the private hajj agencies will be allowed to introduce maximum two packages for the hajj pilgrims this year.
The minimum cost that the private agencies will charge is Tk155,000. However they can add their own charges including house rent, transportation cost etc on the package.
This year around 5,000 people will be able to go to Hajj under government management while 108,868 people will go under the supervision of private agencies.
