Home Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Monday said that the Bangladesh authorities will send back international mafia don Abdul Rauf Daud Merchant to his home country India soon.The necessary processes have been initiated by police and other concerned departments to send him back after freeing him from all sorts of charges.
The Minister unveiled this information while briefing journalists, at his secretariat office, in the capital, this noon.Daud Merchant also known as Rauf Raja, an alleged close aide of Dubai-based Indian mafia Daud Ibrahim is now in Kashimpur high-security prison.
He was rearrested by Bangladesh police on December 2, 2014.Earlier on November 11 in 2015, in a major boost to bilateral security cooperation with India, Bangladesh had handed over to India Anup Chetia, leader of India’s top insurgent group United Liberation Front of Asom (Ulfa), 18 years into his arrest in Dhaka for trespassing.
