The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on Tuesday approved a total of six projects involving an estimated cost of Tk 10.95 billion (1,095.47 crore).
While briefing reporters, Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal informed that the much-awaited Akhaura-Agartala Dual Gauge Rail Link construction (Bangladesh portion) project was also approved at an estimated cost of Tk 4.8 billion (477.81 crore), aiming to establish rail connectivity between Bangladesh and India through Akhaura and thus expand trade and commerce.
The approval came from the weekly ECNEC meeting held at the NEC conference room.
“Of the total project cost, Tk 6.7 bllion (674.71 crore) will come from the national exchequer, while the remaining Tk 4.2 billion (420.76 crore) will come from project assistance,” Kamal said.
All the approved six projects are new ones, according to a news agency report.
