India successfully test-fires Prithvi II

The Strategic Forces Command (SFC) of the Indian armed forces conducted the test, according to The Hindu newspaper successfully flight-tested the nuclear weapons-capable, surface-to-surface Prithvi II missile from Chandipur in Balasore district in Odisha State on Saturday.

It can carry nuclear warheads, but carried a dummy payload in this mission, it said. The SFC is entrusted with launching delivery systems that will carry nuclear weapons, the report said.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation developed the Prithvi II, which is a single-stage missile that uses liquid propellants. It can carry a warhead weighing 500 kg.
