Jalaler Golpo goes to Kerala

Director Abu Shahed Emon’s debut film Jalaler Golpo will contest with 13 other films in the International Competition Films segment of the Kerala International Film Festival for the $30,000 Golden Crow Pheasant Award.

The prize money will be equally shared by the director and producer, reads the official website of the festival, which will be held from December 4 to 11 at Kerala’s capital Thiruvananthapuram. Other contestants include Kazakh film Bopem, Brazilian film Something About Us, Turkish film Dolanma, Iranian film Mamiroo, Philippines film Shadow Behind the Moon, Nepalese film The Black Hen, Israeli film Yona, a joint venture of Haiti, France and Norway named Murder in Pacot, another joint venture of Argentina, Cuba, Germany, Switzerland styled Project of the Century, Indian Bangla film Rajkahini, Indian Hindi film The Violin Player and two Indian Malayalam films The Painted House and The Trap Ottal. Most of these films deliver anti-war messages or depict sufferings and agony of the characters as the victims of faulty social structure. Some of these films also bagged awards participating in the world famous film festivals such as Rotterdam International Film Festival, Venice International Film Festival and Busan International Film Festival held in this year.
