Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid categorically said that the government would observe text book distribution festival on January 1.
On the day, nearly 27 crore textbooks will be distributed among 36,886,172 students of primary and secondary levels.
The education minister came up with the disclosure in a press briefing in the conference room of the Ministry of Education Wednesday.
He said, “Like the last three consecutive years, we will distribute textbooks to all students of primary, ebtedayee, secondary, madrasha and technical education on January 1.”
Around 19 crore textbooks were distributed among 27,662,529 students of primary and secondary levels in 2010 and 23,000000 textbooks distributed in 2011 and 2012, he added.
Education Secretary Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, Chairman of the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) Professor Mostafa Kamaluddin and Director General of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) Professor Noman-ur-Rashid, among others, were present on the occasion.
A total of 10,7862,714 textbooks will be distributed to primary level, 172,01,040 to ebtedayee level, 11,4821,331 to secondary level, 1,05,95,540 to madrasa level and 13,28,481 to technical level.
