Hard hitter batsman Shabbir Rahman thinks Bangladesh will be the favorite one against the upcoming home series against England.
The right-hand dashing batsman doesn’t seem too much concerned with the recent performance of team England. He thinks they will face more challenges playing in the sub-continent situation. England have won four out four ODI matches against Pakistan with one to go.
“England is performing great in their home ground, but let’s not forget we are also strong in our home ground. I am not too much concerned with their batting because when they will come here they have to battle our spinners and it will be a tough ask for them to survive that,” Shabbir said.
Since 2015, Bangladesh have won all the ODI series at home; beating Pakistan, India, South Africa and Zimbabwe in a row. But when it comes to England, the team which just created a world record team Bangladesh taking all the preparations to get into the battle.
“It will be impossible for them to score 400-500 runs against us, even if they do so we have quality batsmen to chase it down. Our team is full of confidence right now. We believe if we give our best in the field, the outcomes will be positive.”
Before the England series, Afghanistan will play a three-match ODI series. And this series will be viewed as warm-up session for the tiger before the England series. But, Shabbir thinks every international match is equally important and they are not taking Afghanistan lightly.
“Every international match is a challenge for us. We cannot take any teams lightly. Some of the Afghan players have played in our domestic tournament. So we know how good they are, but at the same time we are well aware of their weak points.
“This series will be important and beneficial to us as we were out of action for a while. We will try to win all the matches. We need to fight it out against them and then do well against England,” Shabbir added.
