Thousands of people heading home for the Eid-ul-Fitr festival have been trapped in a 40-kilometre long tailback on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway from Wednesday morning.
Police said the severe traffic congestion began to develop in the morning due to four accidents on the highway.
Officer-in-charge of the Mainamoti Highway Police Outpost Jahangir Alam told bdnews24.com a Chittagong-bound lorry lost control and skidded off the highway in Korpai of Burichang upazila in Comilla district around 6am.
