Journalist leaders yesterday demanded withdrawal of the case filed against 59 journalists by ATN Bangla Chairman Mahfuzur Rahman within the next 24 hours and to apologise to them.
Mahfuzur filed the case on Monday to prevent the journalists from holding demonstrations in front of the ATN Bangla office in the capital’s Karwan Bazar and Jatiya Press Club premises.
They also reiterated their ultimatum to the government until September 25 for proper investigation into the murder of journalist couple Sagar-Runi and other journalists.
They would go for tougher movement from the following day if their demands were not met, Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, president of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists, announced at a rally held in front of the Jatiya Press Club in the capital.
