RAKUB to distribute Tk 17.5b loans in FY 16-17

Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (RAKUB) has fixed a target of disbursing agricultural loans worth Tk 17.50 billion in the country’s northwest region to boost crop production during the current fiscal year.
The specialised commercial bank will disburse the loan through its 378 branches in all 16 districts under Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions.

The target has also been set to recover loans of Tk 17 billion and deposit collection to Tk 11.90 billion, said Awal Khan, Managing Director of the bank, reports BSS.

All the zonal and branch managers were asked to infuse more dynamism into its all business activities including loan disbursement, recovery especially the classified loan and deposit collection for benefits of both the bank and clients.

They were also given instruction on devising ways and means on how to speed the farmers-level lending activities for boosting agricultural production to meet up the gradually increasing national food demand.

The bank had formulated a work plan early in the previous fiscal and sent its direction to the field level in order to transform the bank into a profit-earning institution along with self-reliant.

Under the work plan, the bank has disbursed loan of Tk 16.36 billion, recovered Tk 19.45 billion including classified loan worth Tk 3.32 billion in 2015-16 fiscal. It has also mobilised deposit worth Tk 7.38 billion raising the bank’s total deposit to Tk 43.36 billion.
