President Md Abdul Hamid urged followers of all faiths to strengthen religious harmony in Bangladesh.
At a reception he hosted at Bangabhaban on Tuesday on the occasion of Janmastami, Hamid said, “Bangladesh is a country of communal harmony.”
“Bangladeshi people strongly believe in secularism and we have to foster the existing brotherly and friendly relations between all our religious communities in the interest of our nation’s development,” said Hamid.
Hamid added how Lord Krishna’s incarnation was spent spreading love and in trying to eliminate hatred and injustice from society.
“Krishna always sought ways to emancipate people”, the president said, adding, “We should learn from that.”
