In a bid to extend Eid-ul-Azha vacation for civil servants, the government has declared September 11 a holiday – totaling a six-day vacation starting from this Friday.
Offices, instead, will be open on Saturday, September 24.
The move came hours after government discussed the prospect of declaring September 11 and 15 holidays to make a straight nine-day vacation for civil servants.
September 11 has been made holiday through an executive order of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, a press release of the public administration ministry said this afternoon.
Cabinet Secretary Shafiul Alam had told reporters that the prime minister sought a proposal from her colleagues on declaring September 11 and 15 holidays and would decide on it later.
