Thailand wants to double its two-way trade — export and import — with Bangladesh in an effort to boost trade and investment, Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra said in Dhaka yesterday.
“We need closer cooperation between the two countries to make that happen,” said Shinawatra.
Thailand wants to give special focus on three areas — connectivity through air, land and sea, she said at dinner hosted by the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry last night in her honour at Radisson Hotel.
“All kinds of connectivity will help to reduce time and cost,” said Shinawatra, Thailand’s first female prime minister.
She termed Bangladesh’s 6 percent plus GDP growth “quite healthy” and added Bangladesh had strong potentials for further expansion of trade and business with Thailand.
