Angelo Mathews won the toss and Sri Lanka will bat first in the second ODI against Australia at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

Australia, hoping for a 2-0 series lead after winning the first match on Sunday, have made one change to their line-up. Josh Hazlewood has been left out and a second frontline spinner – Nathan Lyon – added alongside Adam Zampa on a surface expected to offer plenty of turn, despite appearing less dry than the pitch used on Sunday.

Sri Lanka made two changes to their XI, bringing in legspinner Seekkuge Prasanna at the expense of the left-arm wrist-spinner Lakshan Sandakan. There is also an alteration to the top order, with opener Danushka Gunathilaka coming in for batting allrounder Milinda Siriwardana. Thisara Perera and Mathews remain the only available seam bowlers.

Sri Lanka 1 Danushka Gunathilaka, 2 Tillakaratne Dilshan, 3 Kusal Perera, 4 Kusal Mendis, 5 Dinesh Chandimal (wk), 6 Angelo Mathews (capt), 7 Dhananjaya de Silva, 8 Thisara Perera, 9 Seekkuge Prasanna, 10 Dilruwan Perera, 11 Amila Aponso.

Australia 1 David Warner, 2 Aaron Finch, 3 Steven Smith (capt), 4 George Bailey, 5 Moises Henriques, 6 Travis Head, 7 Matthew Wade (wk), 8 James Faulkner, 9 Mitchell Starc, 10 Adam Zampa, 11 Nathan Lyon.
