The break-in an LG showroom in Gulshan has ended as an embarrassment for law enforcers as the thieves got away despite police cordoned off the building since the morning.
Earlier, Gulshan Inspector (Investigation) Salauddin Mia said they were informed that three people carrying backpacks entered a LG showroom in the building around 7am Tuesday.
Later, police rushed to the spot and cordoned off the showroom.
After some intense moment, police entered into the showroom and found no one there.
“They cut the grill of the window and fled the scene without stealing anything,” said the Inspector.
However, the law enforcers found two backpacks inside the showroom.
Amid huge number of cops and special SWAT teams in the area, a bomb disposal unit of DMP entered the building and checked the bags.
Amid rising tensions among onlookers and law enforcers alike, the bomb disposal unit recovered 17 mobile phone sets from the two bags.
Deputy Commissioner of Gulshan zone police, Rafiqul Islam said a number of youths carrying backpacks had entered the building by cutting the metal rails beside the LG showroom.
“They fled without taking anything,” the police official said.
Officials in the area said that police had come in and cordoned the area with special armed teams as they thought another terrorist attack like the Gulshan attack was taking place as the outlook of the reported youths breaking in matched with the Guslhan attackers.
