maxresdefault-2‘Ei Poth Jodi Na Shesh Hoy’ -sang Uttam Kumar and Suchitra Sen on a motorcycle down the countryside in Saptapadi, creating one of the best moments in Bangla cinema. As the screen goddess’ granddaughter, Riya Sen, makes a foray into commercial cinema with Sujit Mondal’s ‘Hero 420’, she will be singing just that albeit differently.

Souvik Gupta, who has scored for the film which stars Nusraat Faria in leading role, said it was the brainchild of producer Himanshu Dhanuka.”The song is entirely different, but we have retained the catch phrase. It’s an in thing in Bollywood at the moment, but perhaps one of its kind in the Bengali film industry,” he explained.

Hero 420 revolves around Krish (Om), a spoil brat, who does nothing to earn a living. He decides to change things by marrying a rich girl and chances upon Meera (Riya). He tells her about how he was dumped by a fictitious entity -Rai. Meera falls for Krish and a real Rai (Nusrat Faria) enters into his life, leading to one rip-roaring incident after another.

There are four more tracks in the movie and the composer is kicked about each. There’s O Riya, written by Riddhi and sung by Shadaab Hashmi. “It’s an EDM number,” said Souvik.

The soundtrack also includes a melodious number, O re Piya, written by Prosen and sung by Mohammed Irfan, apart from a peppy dance track, 3G, crooned by Nakash Aziz and Kalpana Patowary and a romantic song, Chaichhi toke.

“The latter is sung by Ash King. This is the first time that I worked with Ash and it was quite an experience. I had sent him the scratch, which he liked immensely. He was involved with every aspect of creating this song,” said Souvik.
